Little Champs (Ages 5-8)

“Little Champs”
Ages 5-8
45 minute class

CrossFitLA Image"Little Champs" teaches not only basic physical skills, but also social skills and confidence. Children learn foundation movements like the squat, push ups, pull ups, climbing, jumping, and elementary gymnastic movements.

More importantly, you will see your child also learns to follow directions, listen, communicate, and play with others. Every class includes game play and positive reinforcement. Your child's confidence, both physically and mentally, will grow with each class.

Champs (Ages 9-12)

“Champs”
Ages 9-12
45 minute class

CrossFitLA ImageOur “Champs” are on the road to becoming “Future Firebreathers.” The skills they learn are more detailed and may involve light weights. Exercises will include plyometrics, gymnastics, weight lifting basics, running, rowing, and stretching.

Classes continue to include game play and positive reinforcement, as well as discussions on what was learned in each class.

“Champs” also includes focus on leadership skills. As children progress through the program, they will be asked to model movements, lead exercises, and demonstrate an ability to verbally explain exercises.

Four times a year students will also participate in a “PT Test Day” where they demonstrate their abilities not only to their instructors, but have a chance to share what they have learned with friends and family.

Children will earn their way through our ranking system on their way to become an official “Firebreather.” As they progress through the levels they will be recognized by daily and weekly awards in their success journal and quarterly advancement indicated by a system of colored t-shirts and stripes.

Teens (Ages 13-17)

"Teens"
Ages 13-17
60 minute class

Our teen program takes training to the next level. Students will continue to learn the basic physical skills, including strength, cardiovascular conditioning, agility, coordination, and balance. In addition they will take a more in-depth exploration of the movements constituting CrossFit.

Weight training will transition from dumbbells to barbells, with the emphasis still on using the least amount of weight possible to provoke a growth response in the body. Proper form will be priority number one.

Workouts will be of high intensity than the Little Champs and Champs program and the vocabulary used in class will be on par with that of the Adult Beginner classes. There will be a strong emphasis on teamwork, communication and leadership skills, knowing that our Teens are just a few short steps from being grown-ups out in the "real" world.

CFLA Teens is appropriate for kids who have been in our Little Champs and Champs programs and also for kids with no CrossFit experience. CrossFit, as with the adults, is scalable for all fitness and skill levels.

In Their Own Words...
My daughter has been going to CFLAKids for nearly two months and she loves it. I love it for her. She is, in general, very athletic and coming here fosters her desire to be competitive, which is important to me. Girls should be able to let this side thrive, if they want it.. The classes make her stronger and faster and more able to enjoy the other sports she's involved in. - Danette R.
