This is a book written by my first mentor, Paul Check. His is the guru of health, wellness, and living a lifestyle that supports balance and your well being. In it, he gives his recommendations for a basic framework for eating, breathing, sleeping, and exercising.
Sally Fallon is one of the leading experts in the area of eating whole foods for the nourishment of your body and vitality for life. When I read the first chapter (the first 50 pages), I felt like I had just been taken to school on most of what I previously thought about what was good and bad for me. Her opinions are thought provoking and for me, really made sense. The recipes and cooking tips are unlike anything you'll find in any other cook book. Do yourself a favor and get this book - you won't regret it. It also makes a great gift for the chef of your family!
Diana Schwartzbein has a great way of explaining complicated hormonal shifts that occur within your body as a result of the food you eat. These hormonal changes cause either sickness or wellness - and the great thing is, the choice is all yours! The principles she shares in this book are ones that will stick with you for the rest of your life.
If you've ever thought about getting on the Zone, this is the book. With a brief explanation about why eating this way does what it does, this book goes on to give you many practical meal plans and suggestions for making your transition to the Zone a good one.
Coach Rip is one of those great coaches that knows exactly what to say and when to say it to get his athletes lifting heavy weight. If you want insight into how he does it, this is an EXCELLENT book - I know of no better text for learning the details and mechanics of the squat, deadlift, (overhead) press, bench press, and the power clean. A MUST read!
