How do you use your affiliate site?
So how do you use your affiliate site? Do you see yourself as part of the revolution of new media? Well... maybe you are and don't know it. How many of you have your site's blog post synched into your Face Book page for automatic updates? how many use twitter to reach out to your clients and friends?
Post to comments the many ways you are able to get your message out using new technology.
The following video from a T.E.D. conference talks about this and more. It;'s long but worth it.
John,
I have done a trade-out with a web guy. He revamped my site and added in all the widjets to auto-update Facebook, Twitter and anything else I want to add.
I have also dicovered ways of being more in-touch with my own blog/athletes.
1. I use flikr for photo uploads that I can post right from my iphone, these then show up in a randomized preview window every time you refresh my blog. Clicking on the thumbnail takes you to my flikr page.
2. We will have the same preview set up for our Vimeo vids as soon as I get the content.
3. I installed a Wordpress app on my iphone so I can post to my blog from any location. This is way cooler than it sounds. I have been able to post blogs complete with photos from the passenger seat of my car, my couch, coffee shop or even while in bed settling in for the night!
4. My blog auto-emails me when someone leaves a comment and my email in turn pushes to my iphone. So I get a chime on my phone telling me when someone has commented. This reminds me to log in and respond to better keep a dialogue going in the comments. (Robb Wolf is amazing at this).
5. Facebook app for iphone too so no matter where someone comments, email, my blog, facebook...any time I'm not coaching I can seem available to anyone in my sphere of influence.
My next phase to implement is creating more quality content. It is easy to get in a rut of just posting the WOD and a pic every day. So my goal is to write enough material to get 2-3 posts per week that are more info-driven and have enough ahead of time for 2 months before I begin posting them.
Just a tip for some of you.
I had a prospect come in who told me they found my site but the blog that particular day was just our WOD. The person didn't understand what it was so they just ignored my site completely. I was lucky she came in anyway but I think as CrossFitters we forget about the outside world that might see our site and have no clue what WOD :AMRAP 15min, Row200m, 15 Burpees means!
Cody,
How do I find someone who can do all of that? I have never been on facebook, twitter, etc... Is it a particular type of computer person I should be looking for? Or would someone qualify by being young and just knowing about all this stuff?
Bill,
My guy can be found here:

not sure how else to go about finding someone but one peice of advice a can give from my experience:
Set up a facebook account and begin using it. You may take a while to learn how it works (I did) but having a great site that links to social networks is not enough. You MUST CONNECT with people on these networks. I have developed the habit of checking in on my facebook several times per day and make sure I post something or comment to other people every day. You have to create a presence.
For instance, I had a former client that I havn't seen for two years find me on facebook. She came in, signed up for training and has since brought in two other referrals -one of which brought in another two people! So I now have a total of 5 people training here as a result of that one contact!
Good luck!

Thanks for posting. Fantastic video.
