I took what has turned out to be almost a month and a half off from logging my food. Mostly it started because I was just too darn busy for a while there, and also I was eating more trail mix and protein bars than I should have been. lol! For a couple weeks I definitely went off the wagon (which is still far healthier than I ate a few years ago), but started about two weeks ago I was mostly back on the wagon.
What I’ve decided is to focus on quality of food, doing mostly Paleo, and not worry about measuring so much for a while. I want to do this so I can work on having more variety in my meals…and quite frankly, just have more fun eating, while still being healthy. I want to be able to use my new cooking skills, try new stuff, and still be fit and healthy. I am positive I can eat this way and be lean and strong at the same time. I have been experimenting with my ideas the last couple weeks and as long as I don’t let myself splurge on nuts, it’s been great.
So, here’s a few things I’m doing—
Buying “Just a Handful of Almonds” from Trader Joe’s and letting myself have 3 packs a day, no more
Eating endless amounts of veggies that aren’t starchy, no measuring
Not measuring or limiting my protein intake
Not necessarily eating my protein/carbs/fats together at one meal
In addition, there were some things I was doing before which I will continue—
No dairy
No fruit
No bread/potatoes/rice/etc
Sunday = no rules apply!
Start tomorrow I will be logging again to share what I’m up to and what happens!
This was definitely the most “complicated” dinner undertaking I’ve done on my own and it came out really well. I learned a bunch, too. I’m very happy! Next week I’m eyeballing a pork tenderloin and mango chutney recipe. Now that my six week cooking course ended, last Monday, I think I will make Wednesday nights my nights to practice my new cooking skills!

Couldn’t get to sleep last night. Woke up spontaneously about 30 minutes after falling asleep. Then was woken up again by my text message going off at 11:30pm. Finally felt like I was solid asleep like 2am…which is 2 hours before I get up! lol

I wasn’t in the least bit sleepy but I was exhausted, so I gave up and crawled in bed at midnight to see if I could get some sleep. The whole night I kept thinking I was smelling something burning. I’m 99% sure that was from the migraine and wasn’t real. So weird.

I had about a good 6 days in there of eating lord only knows what. Then starting last Wednesday I was back on Paleo, but no Zone. Then off again for Sat night and Sunday. Now today I’m back in my regular routine. Phew! 10/5

I switched fish oil to the new kind we are selling and it means taking a lot LESS per serving. Yay! It also has ZERO fishy taste and no fish burps. It’s a win all the way around.
My parents are in town and it was my birthday on the 25th. So, I’m eating pretty whatever. I think it’s good to give my body and head a little break sometimes.
