10:45pm - 2 block dinner
cauliflower with feta cheese, walnuts
Notes: Didn’t have it in me to cook dinner tonight, went with what was quick and easy. Nicely, since I fully stocked my house with Zone-friendly food, what was quick and easy was also healthy.
10:45pm - 3 block dinner
3 eggs with 9 olives scrambled in, side of cooked zucchini and cooked cauliflower.
Notes:
I switched to salami instead of the string cheese to get some more meat in. I just can’t stomach the slimey turkey and chicken stuff. I know from past experience I’ll try it for a day or two and then it literally won’t go down one time and that’ll be it. Salami is fattier, but it’s also edible, so I’m going with edible.
I’m really pleased with my new lunch salad. It’s more veggies and it’s good and it’s not strawberries and ricotta. I could probably go another year of eating strawberries for lunch every day, but I think it’s better if I transition to more veggies and have fruit be for snacks and treats.
I don’t write down on my log that I drink Kombucha either - I try to drink them like 4x a week and I do pretty well at it, since the Guava Goddess flavor is seriously yummy.
I should also note that I’m trying to be better about my supplements - taking my daily greens and also have been inspired by Andy to take fiber 2x a day. Although, it would have been nice if he’d mentioned the whole giant ball of cement in your stomach-leaving no room for stomach acid-heart burn feeling. I haven’t felt like that since the 8th grade, when I was so excited that my mom came home from the grocery store with a box of Cracklin’ Oat Bran that I ate the whole thing in one afternoon.
Wow, I am sucking at logging this month! Also been a little, uh, “creative” with the eating.
Back on track this week for real, though - I spent this morning making up a new shopping list, coming up with a few new recipes, and making a new meal plan. I printed out copies for my fridge at home and for my purse, so I can’t say I’m at the store and don’t know what I’m SUPPOSED to be buying! I’m excited actually - coming up with new ideas for Zone friendly salads.
My new plan includes…
-Eating less cheese and more meat
-Eating nut butters instead of nuts all the time (If I go off Zone, nuts are usually the start of it)
-Eating more veggies and less fruit
Still planning on doing Zone Monday - Friday, like in the past, and eating healthy, but not strict Zone on the weekends. In general going to stay away from grains and starchy stuff, ‘cause they make me puffy and sleepy.
9:30am - 3 block meal
cashews, scrambled eggs, green beans
Wow, I’ve been bad about logging! I was kinda not “in the Zone” for a week there—I was eating good foods, but whatever quantity and combination I felt like. Tired of being hungry!
But after a week of that, now I’m tired of feeling sluggish and feeling the couple pounds I apparently instantly put back on. What is that??? lol!
But I’m actually totally back on Zone now and have been all week, just not being good about copying my food log into here from where I type it in during the day.
7:00pm - 5 blocks
3cups strawberries
10 meatless meatball thingies
grilled peppers and onions
avocado
green beans
Notes: The day got kinda screwed up in the middle because I taught two classes then had a long private session right after that, which is normally when I eat. So I ended up with lots of blocks at the end of the day and had a small feast.
Also tried switching to olives for the morning instead of nuts, since I’m less likely to give myself bonus snacks, thinking “oh they’re neutral” when it’s olives instead of nuts.
Gave the meatless meatball thingies a shot, mostly because they were premade meatballs and for some reason that sounded good when I was shopping the other day. I think if they’d had real cow ones I would have rather had those, since I’d rather not eat a lot of soy, but they didn’t have premade ones and I’m not quite that motivated right now! lol! I cooked them up with diced peppers and onions. I’m not quite sure what they taste like, but it wasn’t bad.
CP brought me fruit again this week! lol! Last week it was the Golden Kiwi, this week it’s a Japanese Apple. Sort of an applish pearish VERY juicy fruit. Quite good! I’m going to have to head down to the grocery store in my hood and check out the Japanese produce for some of this stuff!
8:30pm
3 block meal: 3 scrambled eggs, avocado, 1 cup cherry tomatoes, side of green beans
Thoughts:
Okay, so the 6:50pm meal is a bit odd, I know! lol! But, pumpkin is pretty high in fiber and not that high in carbs, so it seemed like a good fun treat, heated up with some nutmeg and cinnamon on top. Like the insides of a pumpkin pie! ....or like babyfood. ha!
