Workout: 1210 @ Fran Challenge Finals
Fran
Time - 5:18
Wow this is over 2 minutes slower than my PR… and 1:35 slower than my prelims time. Today was the first “moving” WOD that I’ve done in 3 weeks. I did do the static holds WOD on Wednesday, but it was nowhere as fast or as intense as Fran was today. I chose right before my heat to do the workout, a game time decision. I immediately could tell that my conditioning was not there… along with the drive out of my thruster. My right leg would not push. Normally, if I have any imbalances in my squat, they go completely unnoticed.
Today, however, was different. I could feel myself dropping into my squat, and pushing really heavy from my left side. My right leg did support me, but I had no drive out of the bottom.
I’ve told myself that I will be smart and train when I can, and stop when I can’t. Today, I did not feel any pain, other than the punch to my soul by Fran. I have not been in pain in almost a week now, but I still have limited function in my right leg. I practiced some thrusters before my workout and felt OK, so I decided to go ahead with the workout. When I was the last person (I could see) out of my first set of thrusters my brain started to mind-fuck me. I started contemplating quitting. I mean, I not healthy so I could get away with it. And then I saw people really moving ahead of me in this workout and I started doubting myself for even being there. It was a hard workout to do today.
I think that I may look into getting an MRI this week… an MRI!?? For something where there are absolutely no symptoms of pain presently. Something is wrong. Doc G suggested to me that this may be something I need to do ASAP after I told him yesterday that there is a major difference in the firing of the muscles of my right quad. I can flex my quad, and the Vastus Lateralus is soft. I can’t hold my knee in extension parallel to the ground. I can flex my quads, and the rest of my leg is tight, but the lateral side of my leg is soft. My VL is not firing properly. I’m afraid that without even realizing it, I am compensating for it somewhere else and I’m going to have some sort of injury somewhere else down the road. I’m starting to get a little concerned about what’s going on here.
