Joined Matt for my first class today. Whoowhee….

Warm-up
3X
5 Knees to Elbows
5 dips (with black band)
5 burpees (push-ups from knees)

Work-out
10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
Deadlifts (52 pds)
DB Front Squat (10 pds)
DB Push press (10 pds)

I did it in 14:33.

So, where to start. Well, first, I commented to Matt as we were leaving that I did some things today that I haven’t even dreamed of doing since I was a kid. Like the Knees to Elbows. I was kind-of amazed that I could actually get through a total of 15 of them. They were certainly a little wimpier by the end, but I did them!

The warm-up by itself was definitely tiring, but i got through it. I could tell I was a little exerted though because after Becca went through the Work-out with us, and when we were setting up our stations, I had a few brief moments of getting dizzy when I stood up straight, so I knew the warm-up got to me.

Then we got to the Work-Out. I think I was pretty conservative on the weights, because I was able to keep going with just some little breaks here and there. I’m really glad I didn’t overdo it though, especially since I had never done most of those movements. So I was able to focus on form a little more. I think it’s going to be a process of learning what I can handle.

All in all, I really enjoyed it, again. What I liked was that it was totally not at all boring. Every class I’ve tried out so far has been completely different and a real challenge…and I find that really fun. I’m looking forward to my next class, right now. Tomorrow, when I wake up to find my hamstrings screaming, my whole back aching, and my arms barely able to carry my water bottle, I think I’ll be all about the break until next class…

Well, I joined the Petranek Crew today thanks to Mr. Matt Wagner, my new husband.

Today I did the Basic Introductory workout and had fun chatting with Jennifer!

500m row
40 squats
30 sit-ups
20 push-ups (from my knees)
10 pull-ups (with green band)

I did it in 6:34. I think, I’m pretty sure that’s what Jennifer said. It was 6:30 something. I felt pretty good about that and I actually felt really great when I finished. When Jennifer said that a Beginner class would probably be that 3 times, I thought “Oh, I think I could handle that.” I was actually ready to do more right when I was done.

Then I went through my day and got to about 3pm and was like, woah, I’m beat, I think I better lie down. Ended up taking like a 2 hr. nap.

I think that’s kinda the way it works for me. When I’m out of shape, I can usually still manage to get through a workout, it’s how my body reacts to it. Usually when I need a crazy long nap to recover, it’s when my body is like, “what the hell did you just do?”

I’m excited about the prospect of Crossfit helping me with that, and the idea that I can have more energy. I think that’s one of my main goals here. To have more energy and more strength in my day-to-day life.

So thanks Jennifer for welcoming me in today! You guys have been such a positive experience for Matt, and I can’t wait to get some of that myself!
