How much of your health and fitness depends on what you do? Does it really matter? There are a TON of diet books and fitness programs out there, and every single one of them is filled with success stories and testimonials of people who have had great results. Well, if they all work, then how do you choose which one to follow, and does it really matter which one?
Since you do need to make a choice, I suggest you use the following 3 criteria: Is it fun? Is it convenient? Will I actually do it? Of the 3 criteria, the last one is the MOST important. The program or system you choose will ultimately be the one you actually do - so make sure its one that really floats you boat and excites you!
Your health and fitness is MOST dependent on you making it a habit.
Try this: Go for a 21 minute run. Every 3 minutes, pick a different exercise to do 10-20 reps of from the following list: push ups, sit ups, flutter kicks, burpees, squats, walking lunges, tuck jumps, bicycles, star jumps, bird pickers, pull ups, dead bugs.

Thus reads the top edge of the cover of this month's (Feb) Men's Journal. The feature (pp. 39-41) in the Health and Fitness Section is titled "Best Shape of Your Life in 20 minutes - and its all about CrossFit. We (Petranek Fitness) get a little mention in a side-bar box on the 3rd page of the print version. Also in the print version is a side-bar on CrossFit's founder, Greg Glassman. I created the workouts for the article, so if you don't like 'em, talk to me...

Happy New Year! With the outset of 2006, many of you have probably made resolutions about this coming year - including something about your fitness and health. FANTASTIC!
Now comes the hard part - MAKE IT HAPPEN! Don't let it be one of those resolutions that at the end of 2006 is one you wish you had done something about. In my last Tip, I included the definition of the word 'wait." Here it is again, in case any of you didn't see it, or don't remember...
“Wait” def. - to stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens.
If you have been waiting, try this...
- Pick up the phone to schedule a workout with a friend, your spouse, or your coach,
- Schedule your workout time in your calendar - TODAY
- Get up out of your chair/couch/bed and go for a run.
Do something, anything... anything but wait! MAKE IT HAPPEN!

So I've been waiting for this day for the past 10 days. Actually, "waiting for" is the wrong phrase - I've been enjoying my time off - eating whatever I want, sleeping late, watching movies, and most importantly, NOT working out. Today is Monday, January 2nd. Time to shake off the cobwebs, and get rolling, and yet as I sit here in front of the computer, I find myself thinking and convincing myself that I don't have time. WHAT?? Are you kidding me?
So, I'm getting up now - going into the gym - for my first workout of the new year... "Chelsea +2" - 7 pull ups, 12 push ups, and 17 squats every minute on the minute for 30 minutes.
Get up off your *** and get a move on. Come on, 2006 is here!
