Today’s Workout

“SmackDown!”
- At the start of class, randomly pick a card from the CFLA SmackDown deck.
- The chosen card corresponds to a workout - that is the class’ WOD.
- NO card is a “safe.”
- BEWARE of the dreaded “Double Downs!”

DAMIEN YOU WON?! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
My sponsor did me proud : )

And SO MANY people didn't show up! Wow. Did everyone get sick that weekend?!! HAAHA!! I really was sick I SWEAR!!

Posted by ATrain   on  02/02   at  09:50 PM

Sick...me too. Had to work that day, anyway. But I'm running the Redondo Beach 10k this Sunday, rain or shine. See if I improved...

and to think, i was soooooooo close to not showing up (i'm scared of all the crossfit workouts, and petrified at running distance). thankfully there were other crossfitters who knew how to keep pace a steady pace around me, otherwise i would have ran out of gas after the first mile, like during the prelims.

Congratulations, Cheri and other winners!

I showed up for the race really not feeling like doing it, and when the race started I was in the bathroom. I ended up changing into my running clothes as I ran across the parking lot toward the finish line, throwing my jeans to my wife, then trying to catch up with the race.

Even so, I beat my baseline time - only by 12 seconds, but I'll take it!

My long-term goal is still to take my running up to the next level with some focused training, but for now I'm happy.

Incidentally, for any of you who have kids, after the race we went to the Huntington Gardens, they have a pretty amazing Children's Garden. It has tunnels and stuff for kids to run through, and lots of water-based activities and stuff. Plus lots of benches for tired parents to rest on. Perfect!

Congrats to all of the winners - great job everyone!!

Posted by JenniferS   on  02/03   at  08:44 AM

wait, wait, WAIT. Tristan, you mean to tell me that you were even late starting the race with that time?! I thought you were just messing with me when you sprinted past me. Damn, dude!
BTW - I credit CF for my not being sore after the race.
*small victory dance.*
However, my lack of running ability (I have the stride of a wounded animal) is to blame for the insanely painful left foot I have right now. Stress fracture? Deep bruise? Not sure, but I know I look like a chimp hobbling around the office. I had to break out the ice pack after all.
Anyway - GREAT JOB RUNNERS!

Good job guys! Wish I could have been there.

So, what's been drawn today? Did it hurt? I bet it hurt.

6am - Helen
7am - Tabata This
10am - double down: Karen & Fran

Posted by Becca   on  02/03   at  11:47 AM

12:00pm - Fran & Karen (flip flop of 10am!)
1:00pm - The Chief (ouch after yesterday!!!)

Posted by Becca   on  02/03   at  01:28 PM

Great job everybody!!!
What did I do? I started in the back and pretended I was Sea Biscuit! Ha! It was fun! And, there was a fabulous firework display afterward, roses, and I was escorted to a spa where everything is chocolate. Love my brain.
Also, I opened a college fund for my daughter and I figure placing in challenges is a way to contribute to it. $250 more for college!

Great job Denise! Most improved!!!

Today I ran Redondo Beach 10k in 85:14, which is 1:39 improvement over 11 weeks ago, for a self-imposed challenge make up. The hill at mile 5-1/2 almost did me in.

Posted by RossG   on  02/07   at  12:24 PM

Well done, everyone! wink
