Why you get fat…
I don't usually post twice in a row about the same topic, and I still haven't really, even though this is a video clip from the same movie - FatHead. It's a clip about diet, insulin, and how you put on the excess weight (as fat) that you really don't want to.

Enjoy... and pick up a copy of the the movie, Fathead.

Today's Workout
3 rounds for time of:
800m Run
8 Sumo Deadlift High Pulls (135/95)
8 Front Squats (135/95)

After both trailers, I say who's up for a double feature on Movie Night!
It's amazing what fiction becomes "fact" and vice versa.

This clip made me wonder about the effects that medications and recreational drugs have on fat cells. As many of the byproducts of these substances are water and fat soluble, they get stored in a person's fat cells. Are those byproducts inhibiting a cell's ability to function?

"Fat soluble" only means the food/nutrients are broken down by using fat as a solvent. For example, broccoli is fat soluble.

This means that if you don't eat broccoli with a little fat mixed in (ie. olive oil, butter, lard), your body won't efficiently break down the vitamins in the broccoli, and it will just pass through your system without the nutrients being utilized by your body (ie. poop it out)

oh, and although there has been the myth perpetuation that since fat soluble nutrients are stored in the fat cells, and are thus "longer lasting", that too much of a fat soluble nutrient can be toxic. There has never been a reputable or repeatable study to prove that.

Marijuana is fat-soluble. It has been the assertion by those against pot that since THC from pot will stay in your system (fat cells) for longer periods of time, a build up can be toxic. its unproven, and moreover, refuted, since THC is cleared from your body (99%+) within 5 days

Actually, there is a difference between being detectable in the blood stream and detectable in a fat cell. Blood tests check for metabolites in your blood not your fat. It seems to be the general consensus that Marijuana (THC) remains in the blood stream for 7-11 hours. However, based on the articles I've read, there is conflicting information about what happens within the fat cells. Some sources state that Marijuana and it's byproducts remains in fat cells for days, others months, and one stated decades. A person doesn't have to be against marijuana to wonder about the long standing effects the chemicals used to process it could have. That also has nothing to do with the plant itself. My bigger concern is what happens with chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, and other byproducts.
