My Oh My, You Are One Sexy Thing!

Posted by Andy Petranek : Friday, Aug 24, 2012

How do you measure your progress? Here are some of the ways I can think of:

weight
body fat
girth
how your jeans fit
finishing times in specific workouts
time to run/row/swim a specific distance
how much weight you can lift
comments you get from your wife/husband, boyfriend/girlfriend, others
skills you can do now that you could never even think about doing before

But what about the internal progress you're making? You know, the things you think and say about yourself that no one else knows you think? Like while you're checkin' yourself out in the mirror saying to yourself, "Daaaaamn, I look pretty somkin' h-o-t in this (pick one) suit, dress, shirt, bra, underwear, or in the case of Kenny Kane... bicycle helmet." Or the confidence that you've developed because of how you FEEL in the clothes you're wearing? Or the decisions you're now finding yourself making based on putting your own health and fitness first.

Hard to actually measure THAT progress isn't it? When you stop and think about it, which sort of progress is more important or valuable to your life, or do they both play roles? Do you find yourself ONLY measuring by the numbers? How often are you looking at yourself in the mirror and telling yourself how proud you are of you, how much you love yourself, and how sexy you think you look? If you're not, you might be missing out on half (or more) of YOUR progress. (By the way, if you're spending more than 10 minutes a day admiring yourself in front of your mirror, you might be taking this thing a little too far).
