Today's workout is a benchmark workout. The idea today is that you figure out just how much weight you are able to power clean and front squat. Why is this important? Two things: 1. Strength is important in general because it forms a foundation for your athletic fitness and enables you to do things in life that otherwise would be impossible. We work on it regularly - through the major lifts - deadlift, back squat, front squat, press, and power clean. 2. Benchmarks are important because they mark a point in time - they give you a chance to "take a snapshot" of where you are today and give you an idea of how much you've improved 12 weeks from now when we repeat this test.
Really important that you don't miss strength days... right Too Tall? For those of you that have spent "extra" time developing your strength - I'd love to hear about how it's benefited you in CrossFit and in your life in comments.
